Plyboo Linear Line Brings Natural Warmth To Jackson Park

DESIGNING A WARM AND WELCOMING LOBBY AT JACKSON PARK

At Jackson Park, a luxury residential development in Long Island City, the 6,000-square-foot lobby was envisioned as more than just a passageway—it was designed to be a sanctuary from the city’s energy. Spearheaded by Nancie Min of Clodagh Design, the space needed a material that was warm, natural, and sustainable while maintaining a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

The solution? Plyboo Linear Line panels, which were used for both wall and ceiling cladding. Their finely milled grooves add a refined texture that enhances the scale and flow of the space. The panels’ natural bamboo tones provide an organic contrast to the development’s urban surroundings, creating a grounded, tranquil interior.

CLODAGH’S VISION FOR A MINDFUL INTERIOR

Clodagh Design, is known for creating spaces that promote well-being through materials and light. Jackson Park embodies Clodagh’s signature holistic approach, using natural elements to create a sense of calm.

On her first site visit, Clodagh admits she was struck by the scale, noise, and energy of the former industrial block. “It was hard to imagine anyone cooking quietly in their apartment,” she says. Yet that challenge sparked her design instincts. By dividing the 6,000-square-foot lobby into a series of human-scaled “necklace of experiences,” she and Min grounded residents the moment they stepped inside.

The rich, linear grain of Plyboo panels plays a vital role in the sensory experience of the space. Combined with thoughtful lighting and organic finishes, the result is a harmonious, grounding environment in the heart of Long Island City.

When working in glass towers with apartments in the sky, “the first thing I think of is grounding people,” Clodagh states.

A MATERIAL THAT DESIGNERS LOVE

From architects to industry insiders, Jackson Park’s lobby has earned acclaim for its elegant use of natural materials. Plyboo Linear Line stands out for seamlessly marrying sustainability with luxury, becoming a go-to choice for modern interiors. Featured in top design publications, the project highlights how eco-responsible materials can elevate high-end residential spaces.

“People may not know why they feel comfortable here, but they do.”

SUSTAINABILITY: HOW PLYBOO SUPPORTS GREEN DESIGN

Sustainability was a non-negotiable factor for Jackson Park’s design team. Plyboo Linear Line panels meet multiple green building standards, including:

Rapidly Renewable Material – Bamboo grows 10x faster than traditional hardwoods
No Added Urea-Formaldehyde (NAUF) – Improves indoor air quality
LEED & WELL Building Compatible – Helps projects earn sustainability credits

By choosing eco-friendly materials, the Jackson Park team reinforced a commitment to responsible design—one that prioritizes both beauty and environmental impact.
